01

  • Arrive in Beijing
  • When you arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport, our excellent English speaking tour guide will wait for you outside the luggage claim area at the airport, holding a greeting sign with your names or the content you fixed in advance with China Dragon Tour. Then driver will deliver you to the hotel. The balance of the day is free at your leisure.

  • Beijing (B/L/Roast duck dinner)
  • Your Beijing tour starts at Tian An Men Square, which is the largest public square in the world. To take a picture at the Square is believed a must of China Tour. Then you will proceed to visit the Forbidden City, which is the imperial palace of Ming and Qing dynasties and you will know more about how emperors handle political affairs and their daily lives. After lunch, the tour guide will lead you to visit the Summer Palace. The park is a harmonious combination of Chinese ancient structures, traditional garden designing and man-made scenery. Today, you will have the chance to taste the authentic local specialty, the Peking Roast Duck Dinner. Then appreciate the Chinese Kungfu Show (alternatively you could choose Peking Opera).

  • Beijing (B/L)
  • Today, you will visit Ming Tombs, which was the burial site for 13 Ming dynasty emperors. The burial site was chosen with Fengshui taken into consideration. After lunch, proceed to today's highlight, the Mutianyu Great Wall (with round trip cable car), which is a symbol of ancient Chinese civilization. Being one of the must-sees during a China tour, the Great Wall offers you a superb background to take pictures. Climbing the Great Wall will also be a special memory of your China tour, since Chairman Mao Zedong once said that he who hasn't climbed the Great Wall is not a true man.

  • Beijing / Xian (B/A la carte lunch)
  • The morning visit features the Temple of Heaven, where emperors in Ming and Qing dynasty prayed for good harvest to heaven. It is believed the residence of Heaven God, so originally it occupied even bigger area than Forbidden City, the residence for emperor. For lunch, you will enjoy the a la carte lunch at a famous local restaurant to taste the authentic Chinese food. In the afternoon, proceed to enjoy a rickshaw tour in Hutong, the residence for local Beijing people. In such a metropolis, the peaceful Hutongs keep lots of old Beijing atmosphere and becomes the superb spots to enjoy the real Beijing people's daily life. Then transfer to airport and fly to Xian. Be met and transferred to hotel afterwards.

  • Xian (B/ A la carte lunch/ Tang dynasty dinner show)
  • Today your tour will come to the really highlight when you visit the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, which were made in over 2,000 years ago with different facial expression and height. 7,000 warriors and horses composed an underground army to protect the Qin emperor after his death. Each one makes an artwork up to the national protection standard. Then enjoy the a la carte lunch at a delicate restaurant, which boasts tasty food and graceful environment. Then proceed to visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built in Tang dynasty to store the Buddhist scriptures brought back from ancient India by Monk Xuanzang. Then back hotel to have a short refreshment to be well prepared for the Tang Dynasty Imperial Dumpling Banquet with Show.

  • Xian/Guilin (B/ A la carte lunch)
  • After breakfast at hotel, our tour guide will take you visit the Xi'an Ancient City Wall, which is now the biggest and best preserved defending system in the world. The 14 Km city wall offer you a superexcellent field to ride a bicycle. When you are waking or riding a bicycle on the city wall, both the old inner city and modern outer city is in your eyeshot. Then proceed to visit the Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter, which is located in the heart area of Xi'an. After a la carte lunch at a graceful restaurant, transfer to airport and take flight to Guilin. Meet our guide local guide upon arrival and then be transferred to hotel.

  • Guilin- Yangshuo-Guilin (B/L)
  • Guilin one day tour starts at the Li River Cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo. This voyage is reputed as a 100 Km Chinese Painting Gallery, because when you are on the cruiser, it just like you are travelling in a vivid Chinese painting. Buffet lunch is served on the cruiser. Upon arrival in Yangshuo, take a short bicycle tour around the beautiful country side and you will have a family visit on the way. Before transfer back to Guilin, You will have some free time at the West Street. (Tips: You are kindly suggested to have a big breakfast or prepare some snack as the food served on board can not meet the serving standard of CDT.)

  • Guilin/ Shanghai (B/ A la carte lunch)
  • Today you will enjoy city tour of Guilin including Elephant Trunk Hill and Reed Flute Cave. As the landmark of Guilin, the Elephant Trunk Hill is just like an elephant drinking water from the Li River. The Reed Flute Cave got its name from the type of reed growing outside, which can be made into melodious flutes. Today’s lunch will be served as a la carte style at a well-selected restaurant. Then transfer to airport and take flight to Shanghai. Upon arrival, be met by our local guide at the airport. Then visit The Bund and Nanjing Road, which are considered as the most popular scenic spot in Shanghai.

  • Shanghai- Zhujiajiao- Shanghai (B/L/A la carte dinner)
  • After breakfast at hotel, take an excursion tour to Zhujiajiao Water Town, a typical water town in Southern China with a history of over 1,700 years. It keeps the traditional Chinese dwelling style with rivers go across the village and bridges go across the rivers. In the afternoon, drive back to downtown and visit the Yu Garden to see the sophisticated design and fine layout of pavilions, halls, rockeries, ponds and cloisters. After a la carte dinner, you will enjoy the exciting Acrobatic Show.

  • Shanghai/ Home (B)
  • After the breakfast at hotel, the tour guide will help you to check out and then see you off at the airport. After the guide gets the boarding pass for you, it is time to say goodbye to china.

  • Huangpu River Night Cruise
  • Huangpu River is the longest river that passes through the city of Shanghai and which has a length of 97 kilometers. The Huangpu ("Yellow Bank") River divides Shanghai into two sections: Pudong in the east, and Puxi in the West. The river cruise can offer a privileged view of the bridges that span the Huangpu, the cruise boats also offer an excellent view of the famous colonial-era buildings that make up the Bund, buildings such as the Peace Hotel with its unique pyramid roof in blazing green and the Customs House with its large clock tower, and modern skyscrapers.

  • Maglev Train Experience
  • Shanghai Maglev Train (SMT) is the world's first and only commercialized maglev train line in operation and has been operated since the end of 2002. If you are interested to take a Maglev train and experience the speed of China, here, we highly recommend this optional tour for you. Not exactly an "attraction" but it gives you a special experience in Shanghai. It takes only in 8 minutes for a 30-kilometer-long trip, between Longyang Road Station and Pudong International Airport (PVG), with a maximum speed of 430 kilometers per hour. It runs from Pudong International Airport to Longyang Road.

Getting Ready to Go

Visa: Visas are required for China

Passengers must check with the local Chinese embassy or consultation to determine what personal identification and profile is required to apply a China Visa. Passengers who enter, leave and then re-enter the same country on their itinerary should check if they require a double-entry visa.

Insurance: Actually China Dragon Tour purchases the Travel Service Liability Insurance for every passenger when you book tours via this website (except those who only book hotel or air flight). However, to buy a relatively higher quality life insurance by passengers’ is highly suggested.

 

Preparation

A considerate pre-planning can make your trip go smoother. Several weeks before your trip, make a list of what you will need to take with you and then prepare one by one. Make sure your personal documents (passports, visas) are in order and that you have enough prescription medications to last through the trip. China Dragon Tour suggests that you make copies of passports, visas, and any other important travel documents and pack them separately from the originals. Pack a list of medications including dosage and generic names. If you lose the originals while traveling, you'll have copies for easier reporting and replacement.

 

How to make a telephone call in China

Before you depart, please make sure your cell phone can dial international calls. When dialing a number from China to your country, you should proceed as follows: dial your country's Exit Code + destination Country Code + Phone Number. For most countries, the exit code is 00. Exceptions include the USA and Canada (011), Hong Kong and Cambodia (001), Australia (0011), and Russia (8 Pause 10*). For Brazil, please consult with the local telephone company. If the international number you wish to call starts with a 0 (zero), you must drop this starting digit when dialing the number.

In hotels you are able to dial a call back to your country and it is usually much cheaper than your cell phone.

Climate and Clothing

China is a huge country with varied climates. In general, the north is cold and dry in winter. In the south, summer is hot and humid, with a rainy season from July through September.

Bring comfortable walking shoes, a sweater, clothes you can layer and an all-weather jacket. Some religious sites may require modest dress to enter (no shorts, short skirts, or sleeveless tops).
