Arrive in Beijing
Upon your arrival at Beijing Capital International Airport, our Beijing tour guide will meet you outside the luggage claim area, holding a greeting sign with your names or the content you fixed in advance with China Dragon Tour. Then our driver will deliver you to the hotel. The balance of the day is free at your leisure.

Beijing (B/L/Roast duck dinner)
After breakfast at hotel, tour guide will meet you at the hotel lobby and start your China tour. The morning visit starts the Tian An Men Square, which is the largest public square in the world. From here you can see the grand Monument of People's Heroes, Mao Zedong Mausoleum and the modern National Grand Theater. Then you will proceed to visit the Forbidden City, which was the imperial palace of Ming and Qing dynasties. Also here you will see the art works in ancient China, which are all under national level protection. After lunch at local restaurant, the afternoon visit features the Summer Palace. The park is a harmonious combination of Chinese ancient structures, traditional garden designing and man-made scenery. Today, you will have the chance to taste the authentic local specialty, the Peking Roast Duck Dinner. Then appreciate the Chinese Kungfu Show (alternatively you could choose Peking Opera).

Beijing / Xian (B/L)
After breakfast at hotel, proceed to today's highlight, the Mutianyu Great Wall (with round trip cable car), which is a symbol of ancient Chinese civilization. After lunch at a featured restaurant, drive to the airport for the flight to Xi'an, the ancient capital in China. Upon arrival, Xi'an tour guide greets you at the airport and then escort you to hotel to check in.

Xian (B/ A la carte lunch/ Tang dynasty dinner show)
Today’s highlight is an excursion to the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses. They were made over 2,000 years ago with different facial expression and height. 7,000 warriors and horses composed an underground army to protect the Qin emperor after his death. Each one makes an artwork up to the national protection standard. Enjoy the a la carte lunch at a delicate restaurant, which boasts tasty food and graceful environment. Proceed to visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built in Tang dynasty to store the Buddhist scriptures brought back from ancient India by Monk Xuanzang. Then back hotel to have a short refreshment to be well prepared for the Tang Dynasty Imperial Dumpling Banquet with Show.

Xian /Kunming (B/ A la carte lunch)
After breakfast at hotel, visit the Ancient City Wall, the biggest and best preserved defending system in the world. Then proceed to visit the Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter, where you could have a free stroll at the Moslim Quarter is also an opportunity to taste the local Muslim snack. After a la carte lunch at a graceful restaurant, transfer to airport and take a flight to Kunming, which is reputed as the Spring City of China. Kunming tour guide picks you up at the airport and then drive to hotel to check in.

Kunming (B/L)
The Kunming one day tour starts from an excursion to Stone Forest, which is 120 Km from Kunming city, it is a typical sculpture of Karst landforms engraved by nature, coving an area of more than 300 square kilometers. After lunch at local restaurant, drive back to Kunming and continue to visit Qiongzhu Temple. Built in Yuan dynasty, this temple used to be the first Zen Buddhist temple in Yunnan province.

Kunming/ Dali (B/L)
After breakfast at hotel, take flight to Dali, the capital of Nanchao Kingdom when the Bai nationality people ruled Yunnan during 739-937, A.D. Dali tour guide will pick you up at the airport and then go to visit Erhai Lake by boat, a crescent-shaped fresh water lake lying on a plateau of 1,980m above sea level. Then proceed to visit Cangshan Mountain, the producing area for the famous Chinese white tea. The peak of the mountain elevated over 4,000m above the sea level and is covered with snow all the year. You will enjoy the great scenery on a cable car, riding up to the mountain. On the way back to hotel, visit a Bai Minority Village. You will also have opportunity to enjoy a "Three Courses Tea" Ceremony.

Dali/ Lijiang (B/L)
The half day Dali visit features the Three Pagodas and Ancient City of Dali. The Three Pagodas is the oldest standing structure in Yunnan province, and it is also the symbol of Dali. As its name implies, the Three Pagodas comprise three independent pagodas forming a symmetric triangle. As one of the most popular tour destination in China, Dali Ancient City was typical example of ancient Chinese city, giving people a feeling of antiquity, serenity and elegance. After lunch, take a 3.5 hours driving to Lijiang, a city filled with narrow waterways and canals. The rest of the day is free for you to stroll around the Ancient Town of Lijiang. It is an 865-year-old architectural gem, with Sifang Street at the core, the entire city spreads out in all directions, and is crisscrossed by a labyrinth of flagged streets and alleyways.

After breakfast at hotel, Lijiang guide will lead you to visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a treasure of wild plants and rare animals, like a silver dragon lying in the clouds. You will take a cable car ride up to Yun Shan Ping, in English Spruce Plateau. The meadow is truly a God-made “snow mountain garden” carpeted with thousands of colorful flowers and green grasses. In the afternoon, continue to visit the Baisha Murals, which are world famous fresco with rich colors. The art work was a combination of Han Nationality and Naxi Nationality paintings style.

Lijiang/ Shanghai (B)
After breakfast, transfer to airport and fly to Shanghai. Upon arrival at Shanghai, the biggest and most modern city in China, our Shanghai local guide will meet you at the airport and then escort you to visit the Nanjing Road and The Bund, which is the most attractive spot of Shanghai. You will see Shanghai's yesterday and today there.

The morning tour starts at Shanghai Museum, which is located at Renmin Square, the center of Shanghai. The 120,000 art collections show you the traditional culture. Then proceed to visit the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, where you will see the future of Shanghai. You will enjoy the a la carte lunch at a fancy and famous local restaurant. Continue to visit Yu Garden, which used to be a private garden built about 4000 years ago. Among the hundreds of gardens in southern China, Yu Garden is the representative since it is a perfect combination of hill, water, traditional Chinese building and natural scenery. After dinner, you will enjoy the exciting Acrobatic Show.

Xi’an once served as the capital city in Chinese history for 13 dynasties. This city will bring you more atmospheres of culture and history when you visit the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses, ancient City Wall and so on.

Yunnan is known as Yun or Dian for short. It is the most southwestern province in China, Yunnan abounds in natural resources. It is known as the kingdom of plants and animals, and it’s attractive with its rich tourism resources, including beautiful landscape, colorful ethnic customs, and a pleasant climate.

Maglev Train Experience
Shanghai Maglev Train (SMT) is the world's first and only commercialized maglev train line in operation and has been operated since the end of 2002. If you are interested to take a Maglev train and experience the speed of China, here, we highly recommend this optional tour for you. Not exactly an "attraction" but it gives you a special experience in Shanghai. It takes only in 8 minutes for a 30-kilometer-long trip, between Longyang Road Station and Pudong International Airport (PVG), with a maximum speed of 430 kilometers per hour. It runs from Pudong International Airport to Longyang Road.

Then transfer back to Shanghai.

Zhouzhuang Watertown One Day Tour
Situated between Shanghai and Suzhou, Zhouzhuang is an ancient town, which abounds with rivers and lakes. The town is over 900 years old, yet the style and features of this magical place and the lives of its inhabitants remain almost unchanged. Zhouzhuang is one of the most famous water townships in China, noted for its profound cultural background, the well-preserved ancient residential houses, the elegant watery views and the strong local traditions and customs.

Getting Ready to Go

Visa: Visas are required for China

Passengers must check with the local Chinese embassy or consultation to determine what personal identification and profile is required to apply a China Visa. Passengers who enter, leave and then re-enter the same country on their itinerary should check if they require a double-entry visa.

Insurance: Actually China Dragon Tour purchases the Travel Service Liability Insurance for every passenger when you book tours via this website (except those who only book hotel or air flight). However, to buy a relatively higher quality life insurance by passengers’ is highly suggested.

Preparation

A considerate pre-planning can make your trip go smoother. Several weeks before your trip, make a list of what you will need to take with you and then prepare one by one. Make sure your personal documents (passports, visas) are in order and that you have enough prescription medications to last through the trip. China Dragon Tour suggests that you make copies of passports, visas, and any other important travel documents and pack them separately from the originals. Pack a list of medications including dosage and generic names. If you lose the originals while traveling, you'll have copies for easier reporting and replacement.

Before you depart, please make sure your cell phone can dial international calls. When dialing a number from China to your country, you should proceed as follows: dial your country's Exit Code + destination Country Code + Phone Number. For most countries, the exit code is 00. Exceptions include the USA and Canada (011), Hong Kong and Cambodia (001), Australia (0011), and Russia (8 Pause 10*). For Brazil, please consult with the local telephone company. If the international number you wish to call starts with a 0 (zero), you must drop this starting digit when dialing the number.

In hotels you are able to dial a call back to your country and it is usually much cheaper than your cell phone.

Climate and Clothing

China is a huge country with varied climates. In general, the north is cold and dry in winter. In the south, summer is hot and humid, with a rainy season from July through September.

Bring comfortable walking shoes, a sweater, clothes you can layer and an all-weather jacket. Some religious sites may require modest dress to enter (no shorts, short skirts, or sleeveless tops).

Generally speaking, everything went well during this trip to China.
The guide service is quite good roughly. I will never forget the Beijing guide Kate, who told us a lot of story of the emperors of Qing Dynasty. Jessie in Xi'an was also excellent. She was quite a teacher. She could answer all the questions we asked about Chinese history. Mr. Wu in Shanghai also made a good tour guide in China. He was patient, and always on time. One point I want to say is that, they were all well educated and proud of your country.
The drivers were kind, friendly and helpful always. They offered us water during the tour, although I know this is an arrangement of your company, I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of them. Mr. Lee in Xi'an was a nice people. You may never image that he had a small refrigerator on his car. Because of this, we were able to drink the cold water when we came back from the Terra Cotta Warriors.
All the lunch you arranged was of high quality. Among those we liked the vegetarian food in Xi'an the best. I was surprised that the stuff in the restaurant could speak English and she gave us an brief introduction to the dishes.
By the way, thanks for coming to see us when we arrive in Xi'an. Also, it is very smart for your company to have an evaluation card in each city. We believe this is the best way to control the service quality.
We think we will recommend you to our friend.

Hi Brad,
we returned to Canada and gained back a day and must comment that our trip to China was marvelous including with the start in Hong Kong. We really appreciate the work into setting up our itinerary and I must admit everything was covered 100 percent. We were also very impressed with all our guides, Candy in Siahuan, (sp) Kevins was great in Chengdu and Linda in Beijing. Our drivers were also very good drivers. The tour guides did a very good job covering all the things that we saw and explaining everything. They were very patient and made life very easy.
In all our stops the guides and drivers were more than patient if it took me a little longer to get in and out of the car and also along the way at the stops. I think that the extraordinary thing is that all these young people have a very good sense of humour and more than enough patience. They certainly were a joy to be with.
I hope that you are feeling better and that you will be able to enjoy your smoked salmon with your family. It is already cooked all you have to do is eat it. It was unfortunate that we could not meet but I know that I made a good choice when I picked your company to organize our tour. Thanks again and have a very good Summer Olympic Games.
