Arrive in Beijing
When you arrive at Beijing Capital International Airport, our Beijing tour guide will meet you at the airport, holding a greeting sign with your names or the content you fixed in advance with China Dragon Tour. Then our driver will deliver you to the hotel. The balance of the day is free at your leisure.

(B/L/Roast duck dinner)
After breakfast at hotel, tour guide will meet you at the hotel lobby and start your China tour. The morning visit starts the Tian An Men Square, which is the largest public square in the world. From here you can see the grand Monument of People's Heroes, Mao Zedong Mausoleum and the modern National Grand Theater. Then you will proceed to visit the Forbidden City, which was the imperial palace of Ming and Qing dynasties. Also here you will see the art works in ancient China, which are all under national level protection. After lunch at local restaurant, the afternoon visit features the Summer Palace. The park is a harmonious combination of Chinese ancient structures, traditional garden designing and man-made scenery. Today, you will have the chance to taste the authentic local specialty, the Peking Roast Duck Dinner. Then appreciate the Chinese Kungfu Show (alternatively you could choose Peking Opera).

Beijing (B/L)
Today, you will visit Ming Tombs, which was the burial site for 13 Ming dynasty emperors. The burial site was chosen with Fengshui taken into consideration. After lunch, proceed to today's highlight, the Mutianyu Great Wall (with round trip cable car), which is a symbol of ancient Chinese civilization. Being one of the must-sees during a China tour, the Great Wall offers you a superb background to take pictures. Climbing the Great Wall will also be a special memory of your China tour, since Chairman Mao Zedong once said that he who hasn't climbed the Great Wall is not a true man.

Beijing / Xian (B/A la carte lunch)
The morning visit features the Temple of Heaven, where emperors in Ming and Qing dynasty prayed for good harvest to heaven. It is believed the residence of Heaven God, so originally it occupied even bigger area than Forbidden City, the residence for emperor. For lunch, you will enjoy the a la carte lunch at a famous local restaurant to taste the authentic Chinese food. In the afternoon, proceed to enjoy a rickshaw tour in Hutong, the residence for local Beijing people. In such a metropolis, the peaceful Hutongs keep lots of old Beijing atmosphere and becomes the superb spots to enjoy the real Beijing people's daily life. Then transfer to airport and fly to Xian. Be met and transferred to hotel afterwards.

Xian (B/ A la carte lunch/ Tang dynasty dinner show)
Today’s highlight is an excursion to the Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses. They were made over 2,000 years ago with different facial expression and height. 7,000 warriors and horses composed an underground army to protect the Qin emperor after his death. Each one makes an artwork up to the national protection standard. Then enjoy the a la carte lunch at a delicate restaurant, which boasts tasty food and graceful environment. Proceed to visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which was built in Tang dynasty to store the Buddhist scriptures brought back from ancient India by Monk Xuanzang. Then back hotel to have a short refreshment to be well prepared for the Tang Dynasty Imperial Dumpling Banquet with Show.

Xian / Chengdu (B/ A la carte lunch)
After breakfast at hotel, our tour guide will take you visit the Xi'an Ancient City Wall, which is now the biggest and best preserved defending system in the world. The 14 Km city wall offer you a superexcellent field to ride a bicycle. When you are waking or riding a bicycle on the city wall, both the old inner city and modern outer city is in your eyeshot. Then proceed to visit the Great Mosque and Muslim Quarter, which is located in the heart area of Xi'an. You will also have opportunity to taste the local people's daily life when you have a free stroll on the Muslim Quarter. After a la carte lunch at a graceful restaurant, you will be off for the flight to Chengdu. Chengdu guide will meet you at the airport and deliver you to hotel.

Chengdu- Leshan- Chengdu (B/L)
After breakfast, take a one day excursion to Leshan and visit the Leshan Giant Buddha, which is a stature of Sakuamuni in sitting posture and also believed to be the largest stone carved Buddha in the world. In the afternoon, drive back to Chengdu and continue to visit Narrow Lanes, which are the ancient streets with architectures built in Qing Dynasties. Then proceed to visit Jinli Old Street, which is a featured ancient street with traditional Sichuan style. You can sample local arts and craft, traditional Chinese goods, food and delicacies.

Chengdu/Lijiang (B/L/D)
After breakfast, pay a visit to Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Base. It was established in 1987 with six giant pandas rescued from the wild. Nowadays, the Base has not only dedicated itself to giant panda conservation, but has also made great efforts to combine natural scenery and man-made landscapes to create wonderful and humane living areas for giant pandas, red pandas, and other Chinese endangered animals. Then proceed to visit Du Fu Thatched Cottage, the museum and memorial for China's greatest poet, Du Fu. Then drive to the airport for flight to Lijiang and check in.

Lijiang (B/L)
After breakfast at hotel, Lijiang guide will lead you to visit the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a treasure of wild plants and rare animals, like a silver dragon lying in the clouds. You will take a cable car ride up to Yun Shan Ping, in English Spruce Plateau. The meadow is truly a God-made “snow mountain garden” carpeted with thousands of colorful flowers and green grasses. Then enjoy the famous show Impression Lijiang, which is directed by Zhang Yimou, the director of 2008 Plympic Opening Ceremony. In the afternoon, continue to visit the Baisha Murals, which are world famous fresco with rich colors. The art work was a combination of Han Nationality and Naxi Nationality paintings style. Also, it absorbed a lot of Buddhist painting elite.

Lijiang- Tiger Leaping Gorge (B/L)
Take an 1.5 hours excursion to Stone Drum Town, which is located at the base of The First Bend of Yangtze River. Yangtze River is the 3rd longest river in the world. It is called the “first bend” because the river makes a 90 degree turn from south to east within a distance of 1 kilometer. Then visit the Tiger Leaping Gorge, which is the deepest gorge in the world. From the top of the gorge you look down the steeply angled (70-90 degrees) mountain sides to the rushing Golden Sands (Jingsha) River with its 18 frothing rapids more than 200 meters (about 700 feet) below.

Lijiang/ Kunming/Guilin (B)
The morning is free for you to stroll around Ancient Town of Lijiang, a city filled with narrow waterways and canals. The rest of the day is free for you to stoll around the Ancient Town of Lijiang. It is an 865-year-old architectural gem, with Sifang Street at the core, the entire city spreads out in all directions, and is crisscrossed by a labyrinth of flagged streets and alleyways. In the afternoon, fly to Kunming for the connection flight to Guilin. Guilin Guide picks you up and drive to hotel to check in.

Guilin-Longsheng-Guilin (B/L)
After breakfast, take a 2 hours driving to Longsheng County and pay a visit to the Dragon Bone Rice Terrace. The terraces look like great chains or ribbons as they wind from the foot to the top of the hill. This ingenious construction makes best use of the scare arable land and water resources in the mountainous area. After the tour, you will also pay a visit to the Minority Villages of Yao and Zhuang and get to know the local minority people's daily life.

Guilin- Yangshuo-Guilin (B/L)
After breakfast at hotel, enjoy a Li River Cruise through the mist-shrouded limestone mountains, passing picturesque farms and fishing villages. Arrive in Yangshuo in the afternoon; enjoy countryside cycling with a family visit on the half way. (Biking alongside the paddy field and orchards that surround the famous mountains will give a fascinating insight into life in rural China and it is an opportunity to see a real country life and talk to the local famers). Enjoy your free time in a coffee bar or do some shopping in the West Street in the evening. Then drive back to Guilin.

Today’s city tour features the Reed Flute Cave and Elephant Trunk Hill. As the most attractive scenic spots along the Li River, visitors are always dazzled by the splendid scenery here. After a la carte lunch at a featured local restaurant, take flight to Shanghai. Our tour guide will pick you up at the airport and then drive to hotel.

The morning tour starts at Shanghai Museum, which is located at Renmin Square, the center of Shanghai. The 120,000 art collections show you the traditional culture. Then proceed to visit the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, where you will see the future of Shanghai. You will enjoy the a la carte lunch at a fancy and famous local restaurant. Then continue to visit Yu Garden, which used to be a private garden built about 4000 years ago. Among the hundreds of gardens in southern China, Yu Garden is the representative since it is a perfect combination of hill, water, traditional Chinese building and natural scenery. Then have a leisure stroll on Nanjing Road and The Bund. After dinner, you will enjoy the exciting Acrobatic Show.

Maglev Train Experience
Shanghai Maglev Train (SMT) is the world's first and only commercialized maglev train line in operation and has been operated since the end of 2002. If you are interested to take a Maglev train and experience the speed of China, here, we highly recommend this optional tour for you. Not exactly an "attraction" but it gives you a special experience in Shanghai. It takes only in 8 minutes for a 30-kilometer-long trip, between Longyang Road Station and Pudong International Airport (PVG), with a maximum speed of 430 kilometers per hour. It runs from Pudong International Airport to Longyang Road.

Getting Ready to Go

Visa: Visas are required for China

Passengers must check with the local Chinese embassy or consultation to determine what personal identification and profile is required to apply a China Visa. Passengers who enter, leave and then re-enter the same country on their itinerary should check if they require a double-entry visa.

Insurance: Actually China Dragon Tour purchases the Travel Service Liability Insurance for every passenger when you book tours via this website (except those who only book hotel or air flight). However, to buy a relatively higher quality life insurance by passengers’ is highly suggested.

Preparation

A considerate pre-planning can make your trip go smoother. Several weeks before your trip, make a list of what you will need to take with you and then prepare one by one. Make sure your personal documents (passports, visas) are in order and that you have enough prescription medications to last through the trip. China Dragon Tour suggests that you make copies of passports, visas, and any other important travel documents and pack them separately from the originals. Pack a list of medications including dosage and generic names. If you lose the originals while traveling, you'll have copies for easier reporting and replacement.

How to make a telephone call in China

Before you depart, please make sure your cell phone can dial international calls. When dialing a number from China to your country, you should proceed as follows: dial your country's Exit Code + destination Country Code + Phone Number. For most countries, the exit code is 00. Exceptions include the USA and Canada (011), Hong Kong and Cambodia (001), Australia (0011), and Russia (8 Pause 10*). For Brazil, please consult with the local telephone company. If the international number you wish to call starts with a 0 (zero), you must drop this starting digit when dialing the number.

In hotels you are able to dial a call back to your country and it is usually much cheaper than your cell phone.

Health Information

Check with your personal physician for the latest overseas travel health information.

Climate and Clothing

China is a huge country with varied climates. In general, the north is cold and dry in winter. In the south, summer is hot and humid, with a rainy season from July through September.

Bring comfortable walking shoes, a sweater, clothes you can layer and an all-weather jacket. Some religious sites may require modest dress to enter (no shorts, short skirts, or sleeveless tops).

Thank you for giving us such an opportunity to share our travel comments on your website.
Generally speaking, everything went well during this trip to China.
The guide service is quite good roughly. I will never forget the Beijing guide Kate, who told us a lot of story of the emperors of Qing Dynasty. Jessie in Xi'an was also excellent. She was quite a teacher. She could answer all the questions we asked about Chinese history. Mr. Wu in Shanghai also made a good tour guide in China. He was patient, and always on time. One point I want to say is that, they were all well educated and proud of your country.
The drivers were kind, friendly and helpful always. They offered us water during the tour, although I know this is an arrangement of your company, I also want to take this opportunity to thank all of them. Mr. Lee in Xi'an was a nice people. You may never image that he had a small refrigerator on his car. Because of this, we were able to drink the cold water when we came back from the Terra Cotta Warriors.
All the lunch you arranged was of high quality. Among those we liked the vegetarian food in Xi'an the best. I was surprised that the stuff in the restaurant could speak English and she gave us an brief introduction to the dishes.
By the way, thanks for coming to see us when we arrive in Xi'an. Also, it is very smart for your company to have an evaluation card in each city. We believe this is the best way to control the service quality.

Hi Brad,
we returned to Canada and gained back a day and must comment that our trip to China was marvelous including with the start in Hong Kong. We really appreciate the work into setting up our itinerary and I must admit everything was covered 100 percent. We were also very impressed with all our guides, Candy in Siahuan, (sp) Kevins was great in Chengdu and Linda in Beijing. Our drivers were also very good drivers. The tour guides did a very good job covering all the things that we saw and explaining everything. They were very patient and made life very easy.
In all our stops the guides and drivers were more than patient if it took me a little longer to get in and out of the car and also along the way at the stops. I think that the extraordinary thing is that all these young people have a very good sense of humour and more than enough patience. They certainly were a joy to be with.
I hope that you are feeling better and that you will be able to enjoy your smoked salmon with your family. It is already cooked all you have to do is eat it. It was unfortunate that we could not meet but I know that I made a good choice when I picked your company to organize our tour. Thanks again and have a very good Summer Olympic Games.
