Guangfu Water Town
Grangfu in Brief
Guangfu Water Town is a historic and cultural town of Jiangsu Province. Guangfu Water Town is located at the foot of Dengwei Mountain, 25 kilometers to Suzhou city. Actually, it is located on a peninsula on the Taihu Lake.
As early as in Spring and Autumn Period of time, the king of Wu Kingdom used to breed tiger here, so at that time, the name of Guangfu was Tiger Mountain. Later, a Guangfu Temple was built here in Liang Dynasty, hence the name Guangfu Town.
Main Attractions
Kyun- Yin Temple
Kyun- Yin Temple or Guangfu Temple was built in 503, in Liang Dynasty. Now the palaces one can see was built in Qing Dynasty. As early as in 1040, a farmer used to dig earth here and accidently discovered a bronze Kyun- Yin sculpture. Then, he put the sculpture to the temple and hence the name.
Guangfu Tower
Guangfu Tower or Buddha Relic Tower has a history of over 1400 years. The seven-storied tower is totally 38 meters high. Because it is located on the top of Gui Mountain. So standing on this tower, one may have a bird view to the whole Guangfu Water Town.
